The ability to remain in their own homes is vital to most elderly people. It helps them retain their dignity and their sense of control in the face of physical limitations, which often strips them of that very sense of dignity and independence. In fact, research shows that levels of happiness and personal satisfaction in the geriatric population are directly correlated to one’s sense of self-autonomy. However, parents are frequently urged by their own children, acting with only the best of intentions, to move out of the comfort of their own home, out of concerns for the parents’ safety, personal care, homemaking and social needs.

I was visiting Parker this week and had an opportunity to meet Mireille and observe her in action. I was very, very happy to see the care she takes of my uncle. We would like to thank Edison Home Health Care’s amazing staff for taking such wonderful care of our grandmother. Two years ago, she suffered a stroke, rendering her immobile. The coordinator assigned to our case, R.G., spent an unbelievable amount of time with us, patiently answering our countless questions and held our hand the whole way through the process. The aide you us, Christina, has turned into our very own angel. She is able to communicate with my grandmother and has demonstrated unsurpassed love, tenderness, care and dedication in nursing her back to health. My grandmother is now walking again! She has a perpetual smile on her face, has rediscovered life’s joy and is back to the grandma we’ve always known, all thanks to Edison HHC’s wonderful care and concern. We can never thank you enough!
