From New York To Paris, A Guide To The Fall Fashion Calendar (2024)

Fall is almost here, so you know what time it is—it’s time to fill up your fall fashion calendar with events, co*cktail parties and runway shows in style.

It’s not only where, but what to wear, considering fall fashion will be in full swing starting as soon as August throughout October, all over the globe.

Several cities are going to be debuting their Spring/Summer 2025 collections. Here is a quick guide to fall fashion events, from Lagos to Los Angeles, and beyond.

Copenhagen Fashion Week

If one fashion week is gaining steam for competing with the top four global fashion weeks, it has to be Copenhagen Fashion Week. Its Scandinavian cool brings a minimal, but colorful edge to street style, and the photos are always gorgeous. This year, it runs from August 5 to 9, featuring brands like Forza Collective, OperaSport, Rolf Ekroth, A. Roege Hove and Alectra Rothschild / Masculina. There will also be a presentation from J'amemme, whose new collection draws inspiration from jellyfish for their feminine pieces, which have pleats and fringe.

Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo

Tokyo street style is trailblazing, but when it comes to runway fashion, Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo is a must. It happens from August 28 to September 2, and features young, up and coming designers. It is hosted by the Japan Fashion Week Organization and held twice a year at venues like Shibuya Hikarie and Omotesando Hills, and as other locations across Tokyo. Expect to see art exhibitions, talks, networking events and runway shows.

Seoul Fashion Week

If there is one city noted as an up-and-coming fashion capital, it is Seoul, South Korea. Running from September 3 to 7, South Korea's top designers will be on view at Seoul Fashion Week, including Maison Nica (famed for her craftsmanship) and Greedilous (known for her maximalist style), among others. Many of the brands are woman-founded and woman-led. The runway shows here offer insight into a burgeoning fashion capital that loves architectural cuts and bursts of color.

New York Fashion Week

Right after Labor Day, the fall events begin. Be ready. New York Fashion Week kicks off from September 6 to 11, showcasing several brands in theBig Apple. It includes the third annual Elysian’s Catwalk Furbaby, which fundraises for animal welfare charities including Marley’s Mutts and Juniper & Friends. This charitable runway show partners with legendary New York designers as judges, Nicole Miller, Canine Cashmere, Alex Foxsworth, Jonathan Kanye, Christina Strayer and Brooke Wilder.

Milan Fashion Week

Milan Fashion Week happens from September 17 to 23, featuring Fendi opening the fashion week, with runway shows from Diesel, Jil Sander and Boss. Expect shows from Del Core, No. 21, Roberto Cavalli and Etro, as well as Max Mara, Prada and Moschino, whose new creative director is Adrian Appiolaza. Fiorucci will have their first runway show, so that's worth looking forward to, while Tom Ford won't have a runway show following the exit of Peter Hawkings, their creative director (their collection will be shown in their Milan showroom). Philipp Plein has plans to open a restaurant and hotel this fall in Milan, and it’s likely to happen during the fashion season. Stay tuned for more information.

Paris Fashion Week

Paris is nonstop this year, first with the Olympics, then fashion week. Running from September 23 to October 1, the Spring/Summer 2025 womenswear kicks off with a show by Weinsanto and will close on October 1 with a presentation by Louis Vuitton. Allesandro Michele's first collection with Valentino will debut on September 29, while Ludovic De Saint Sernin returns to Paris, alongside debut shows from Abra, Julie Kegels and Valliant.

Gran Canaria Swim Week

Madrid’s Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida runs from October 2 to 6. It’s the top swimwear runway show in all of Europe. It’s inspired by Gran Canaria, the Spanish island and all that this tropical paradise encompasses. The swim week features over 40 Spanish swimwear brands, including Alexandra Miro, Gottex and Miss Bikini.

Shanghai Fashion Week

Shanghai is its own fashion capital, in its own special way. Shanghai Fashion Week runs from October 10 to 18, featuring a trade fair, sustainability-focused events, and up and coming Chinese fashion designers that are worth checking out. The programming is already out, and it’s huge, so be sure to check out runway shows of brands like Semir, Wynken and Tutu De Monde.

Los Angeles Fashion Week

LAFW was first founded in 1953 by Elanor Lambert, a fashion designer. It has had many iterations over the decades, but it’s in its best time yet, since N4XT Experiences acquired LAFW in 2022, which is now endorsed by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Some recent highlights from their runway shows include Gypsy Sport and Luis De Javier. Their next edition happens from October 17 to 19, and promises more experiences, runway shows and all around, a West Coast vibe.

Dallas Apparel and Accessories Market

The Dallas Apparel and Accessories Market is a market in Dallas, Texas which runs at the Dallas Market Center from October 22 to 25, and features thousands of wholesale companies specializing in women’s apparel, accessories, footwear, beauty and wellness. Expect to see western styles, contemporary and modern styles, as well as attire for children and teens.

Kingpins Amsterdam

The world-renowned denim event happens at the Sugar Factory in Amsterdam on October 23 and 24. While Kingpins happens five times a year in New York, Amsterdam and Hong Kong, expect to see the latest and greatest from the denim community, with a focus on sustainability.

Lagos Fashion Week

If there is one city in Nigeria that is gaining steam for their fashion, it is Lagos. From October 23 to 27, there will be the next Lagos Fashion Week. For a fresh look at fashion, check out the index of fashion designers on their website, from Abiola Olusola to Banke Kuku and Loza Maeombho. Some highlights from their programming includes “Fashion Focus Africa,” which discovers new talents, and offers access to their Fashion Focus Fund, and the Fashion Business Series, which features key players from the fashion industry for networking and talks centered around the fashion industry.

FashionBar, The Shows

In Chicago, FashionBar, The Shows is the Windy City’s answer to fashion week. Running from October 15 to 28, the week-long event features established and up and coming Chicago designers, including Rosa Loredo, IAMTONYLONG and others. FashionBar CEO, Tony Long will direct the shows alongside creative director Pipine Taya. Non-binary fashion will have its place here, as well as luxury wear, street wear, and couture. “When we think about New York, L.A. and Miami, there's also a set identity, but there is no identity around Chicago,” said Long. “So, the goal is to identify Chicago as a fashion destination with inclusion, diversity and culture.”
